The official nomadic adventure has begun – I have either sold or packed up all of my belongings, and Dansby and I have hit the road to… nowhere! We first stayed 3 nights in Big Bend National Park which had one of the most beautiful skies I have ever witnessed. It was breathtaking to take a moment and remember how utterly small we are in this magnificent and large world. I made the trek down and around the United States/Mexico border and am now settled in Phoenix, Arizona. I will be in Arizona until the end of November, and I have the luxury of being roommates with my college best friend once again.

We have already gone to two shows (Hozier and Chappelle Roan), and I saw the Arts District of Downtown Phoenix. I am working remotely each day for about 8-10 hours, and am maintaining my routine of going to the gym each morning. I plan on spending at least 1-2 evenings soaking up some time on a mountain, and embracing each day as an opportunity to learn something new about myself. Though nomad life has just begun, I am feeling okay whilst adjusting to my “new normal”. Not having my own bed has been a challenge, but packing my pillows and even my typical comforter has allowed me to keep a sense of “home” with me wherever I am (having Dansby helps, too)!

For the past few years, I have repeatedly said to myself and others, “I am finding myself”. I no longer feel as if I am searching for a lost girl, or someone I want to be – I have found her. I know who I am. In fact, I have never felt so confident in knowing attributes and qualities about me that make me who I am. This journey is no longer about finding who I am or who I want to be, but rather about becoming more of who I have always known myself to be.

Unshaken. Grounded. Warm. Committed to my dreams. The moment is here – and I am so glad to be living in it. Xoxo, makalah marie
